Sleep Disorders Center

Alarm clock next to sleeping couple

The Sleep Disorders Center at Mary Rutan Hospital offers a comprehensive approach to diagnosing, treating and supporting those affected by sleep disorders.

There is nothing better than a good night's sleep. Yet, one in four Americans does not enjoy the benefits of good sleep because they suffer from sleep disorders. Common sleep disorders, such as sleep apnea, insomnia, parasomnias, nocturnal seizures and narcolepsy, affect a person's health and quality of life, including job performance and family relationships. Some disorders, like sleep apnea, can actually be life-threatening if left untreated.

Sleep disorders can create significant problems for both adults and children. The good news is that specialized attention to sleep disorders can dramatically improve the ability to live a normal life. With this mission in mind, Mary Rutan Hospital has established a Sleep Disorders Center, staffed by a team of professionals knowledgeable in the evaluation and treatment of sleep disorders. The healthcare team at the Mary Rutan Hospital Sleep Disorders Center will take time to review your medical history and evaluate your sleep problems. Once an accurate diagnosis is made, we will provide a treatment plan specifically designed for you.

An assessment can be helpful in determining the reason for your sleep disorder and leading to treatment that can improve your sleep.

Sleep Center Resources

The MRH Sleep Disorders Center is located on the second floor of the hospital. Our facilities include four private bedrooms for sleep studies, decorated in a comfortable fashion and supported by state-of-the art sleep equipment. All rooms include cable television, an adjustable comfort mattress and a private bathroom with a shower for your comfort and convenience.

Patients undergoing a sleep study will spend a full night in the Sleep Disorders Center, while brain waves, snoring, respiration, muscle tone, leg movements and heart rate are monitored during sleep. With this information, the physician can prescribe a treatment plan that suits the patient's individual needs.
